Valley Aquatic Club is a swimming NSW registered swimming club. Originally known as Y Valley Aquatic Swim Club, the club was established in June 2005 and was called by the parents of squad swimmers at Kurri Kurri Aquatic Centre to meet the need for a competitive swimming club.
The Y in the original name was a gesture to the Kurri Kurri Aquatic Centre’s management company YMCA for their support to the swim club. In 2015 the Kurri Kurri Aquatic Centre had a management change YMCA were no longer involved at the centre or with our club, club members called for a special resolution to change club name.
In 2020 the club moved to Maitland Aquatic Centre, Les Darcy Drive, Maitland. The Centre is managed by the Maitland Council, and Valley Aquatic Club is actively supported by pool management and coaching staff.
The club in its present form caters for all levels of swimmers ranging from the beginners, development squad members and representative level swimmers. The present committee encourages and develops an environment for Valley Aquatic swimmers to compete in carnivals, both development and qualifying.
Valley Aquatic Club welcomes all swimmers who wish to compete and support the club and we offer a wide range of opportunities for the individual swimmer. The committee has a focus on assisting and developing competitive swimmers to reach their goals by competing at representative levels. One way in which the club assists with this is by providing financial assistance to cover costs in the provision of a qualified club coach who attends representative carnivals to assist the swimmers.
The Squad swimmers at Maitland Aquatic Centre train all year round in the 50 metre outdoor pool in summer season and the modern indoor complex in the winter season. Valley Aquatic Club competes all year round with a summer and winter season competition available to swimmers.
Valley Aquatic Club believes Swimming is best achieved in a supportive, caring and friendly environment that promotes a passion for the arts of swimming. Our vision is achieved by encouraging the children to achieve their best results through motivation, diligence and friendship.
